04 Sep Onlife Health Again Achieves NCQA Wellness and Health Accreditation
Nationally Recognized 3-Year Accreditation Includes Performance Rating
Brentwood, Tenn., September 4, 2020—Onlife Health, a GuideWell company that brings end-to-end simplicity to population health and wellness, connecting and integrating people, technology, and benefit design through its user-friendly engagement platform, announced that it has again received a 3-year Wellness & Health Promotion (WHP) Accreditation with Performance Reporting from the National Committee for Quality Assurance (NCQA).
NCQA WHP Accreditation is a nationally recognized evaluation that purchasers and consumers can use to assess wellness and health promotion programs. Accredited with Performance Reporting status is granted to wellness and health promotion organizations that have submitted a specific number of results for NCQA’s standardized WHP Performance Measures, in addition to meeting or exceeding NCQA’s standards. Onlife has been accredited by NCQA since 2009.
“This NCQA Accreditation once again affirms that Onlife Health delivers effective, high-value programs and best practices that are structured to meet the needs of employers, health plans and members,” said Mark McConnell, CEO at GuideWell Connect, Onlife Health, and PopHealthCare. “With this accreditation, we once again have a strong confirmation from an objective third party that our wellness program has the personalized tools and resources to motivate people to engage in healthy behaviors. It takes a true team effort to meet the nation’s highest evidence-based standards for quality in health and wellness, so let me also recognize everyone at Onlife for earning this accreditation.”
According to NCQA, their standards are purposely set high to encourage wellness and health promotion organizations for continuous enhancement of their quality. No comparable evaluation exists for wellness and health promotion programs. The standards are intended to help organizations achieve the highest level of performance possible, increase healthy behavior change in eligible individuals and create an environment of continuous improvement.
NCQA accredits and certifies a wide range of healthcare organizations, and its Healthcare Effectiveness Data and Information Set (HEDIS®) is the most widely used performance measurement toll in healthcare. NCQA Accreditation is a voluntary process that involves a rigorous review of the key functions wellness and health promotion organizations perform. The review focuses specifically on areas of interest to consumers and employers, including how wellness programs are implemented in the workplace, how services such as health coaching are provided to help eligible individuals develop skills to make healthy choices, and how sensitive health information of eligible individuals is properly safeguarded. A team of experts conducts the Accreditation Surveys, which include rigorous on-site and off-site evaluations of 12 standards. A national oversight committee of physicians then analyzes the team’s findings and assigns an accreditation level based on the performance level of each organization being evaluated to NCQA’s standards. Using standardized program measures allows employers to make informed comparisons when choosing among several wellness vendors.
“I congratulate Onlife Health for distinguishing itself by earning Wellness & Health Promotion Accreditation. This achievement signals to employers that Onlife Health is organized and ready to improve workforce health,” explained Margaret E. O’Kane, President of NCQA. “Savvy employers know that the health and well-being of their workforce is a critical asset.”
